Csak röviden. Van pár kép, van egy rövid videó. John nem volt ott. A The Mars Volta nem játszott. Az első fellépők Bob és Elijah Forrest volt Josh társaságában, két számot játszottak. Aztán valami csajok jöttek. Utánuk Iggy Pop, Flea, Chad és Steve Jones állt össze 4 szám erejéig. Végül Anthony, Flea, Chad, Josh és George Lynch játszott három feldolgozás számot.

Peggy (Anthony anyja) pedig a blogján írt arról, hogy ő sem tudja John miért nem akart menni:

„I have no idea why John isn’t going to be at the MAP celebration. His mom called today to tell me she would be volunteering at the event and her husband would be in the audience. I’ve not heard anything as to why John isn’t performing with them. Also, I don’t ask…..I think Ronnie Wood is performing with them. :)”

Lazán kapcsolódó dolog, hogy április 29. és július 5. között a Ludwig Múzeumban megrendezett kiállítás Anton Corbijn fotós/rendező több mint harminc éves munkásságába enged betekintést.

Számunkra ő azért fontos/érdekes, mert ő rendezte anno a My Friends klipjét, illetve Rolling Stone magazin egyik címlapfotóját is ő készítette az együttesről.

Mindezek mellett természetesen rengeteg együttessel dolgozott (legtöbben a a Depeche Mode-nak végzett munkája miatt ismerhetitek), az oldalán megtalálhatóak az eddigi munkái.

2009. május 8-án rendezik meg az 5. MusiCares jótékonysági rendezvényt, ahol Anthony Kiedis megkapja a Stevie Ray Vaughan Díjat, jutalmul a MusiCares Foundation támogatásáért, és a drogfüggőkön való segítségért. A rendezvényen ott lesz Flea és Chad is. Többek között ezek az előadók lépnek majd fel: Bob Forrest, Elijah Forrest, Josh Klinghoffer, The Mars Volta, Ivan Neville, Iggy Pop.

A Guitar World összeállította az 50 legjobb gitár album listáját, amin a Red Hot Chili Peppers a 18. helyet szerezte meg a Blood Sugar Sex Magik albummal.

18) Blood Sugar Sex Magik, 1991 (The Red Hot Chili Peppers)

It came out of a haunted mansion in the Hollywood Hills—the album that established the Red Hot Chili Peppers as major-league contenders in the game of rock. By this point, the Peppers had survived the Eighties L.A. punk scene, a head-spinning succession of personnel changes and the death of founding guitarist Hillel Slovak. But now they had John Frusciante in the fold, not to mention producer Rick Rubin, who worked with the band for the first time on Blood Sugar Sex Magik. There would be no Rage Against the Machine, nor any rap metal, without Blood Sugar’s amalgam of funk, metal and hip-hop vocalizing.

WHAT THEY SAID
Flea: “That was the beginning of a new era for us. Breaking into the mainstream was a real change in our lives. Also it was a time when John brought a whole new concept into the band as a guitar player and songwriter. It suddenly gave us so much more to draw from—a bigger launch pad for us all to get launched into outer space from.”

Frusciante: “Following the great creative peak of recording Blood Sugar, the positive feelings I had had began to dissipate.”
