2013 január 4-én jelenik meg a Red Hot Chili Peppers következő kislemeze, amelyen szokás szerint két új számot fogunk kapni, címük Pink As Floyd és Your Eyes Girl. A 9 részes sorozatnak ez lesz az 5. darabja.
From the Basement – Meet Me at the Corner
A Nigel Godrich által életre hívott From the Basement nevű stúdió koncert felvételen játszott nemrég a Red Hot Chili Peppers, innen kaptunk most egy felvételt, a Meet Me at the Cornert.
Inspired by the intimacy and high fidelity of The Old Grey Whistle Test on the BBC, Nigel Godrich created his in-the-studio concert series From the Basement based on a simple premise: „It’s just about having friends and close associates you know and just creating a relaxed atmosphere conducive to making something cool,” Godrich tells Rolling Stone. „Just showing what it can be.” And when the Red Hot Chili Peppers (including Godrich’s Atoms for Peace bandmate, Flea) dropped by for a recent Basement session, the vibe was especially warm and communal.
„Flea’s a really good friend of mine,” Godrich says, „and Josh (Klinghoffer) is a really good friend of mine as well, and obviously I know the other guys in the band just because I’ve hung out with them socially. But the whole thing was really so much fun. I’ve wanted to record Chad (Smith) for years, and just being able to do that was a massive treat for me.”
In fact, the whole session was a treat, the producer says.
„Everybody sort of came to the party,” Godrich says, „and I really appreciate them putting their faith in us. Anthony (Kiedis) was great – it was really a nice day. A lot of laughter, a lot of great vibes, and I really hope that comes across. We ended up doing the whole record, so it was kind of a cool little project. I think it sheds light on (I’m With You) in a different way.”
Februárban jön Thom Yorke és Flea közös lemeze
Az eredetileg Thom Yorke szólózenekaraként funkcionáló Atoms For Peace jövőre jelenteti meg első stúdióalbumát, amelyhez most bejelentették a pontos dátumot és megmutatták a borítót is. Az együttesnek tagja még többek között Nigel Godrich producer, aki hosszú évek óta dolgozik együtt a Radioheaddel, a basszusgitáros pedig Flea a Red Hot Chili Peppersből. Az Amok című lemez február 25-én kerül a boltokba, és az eddig megismert dalok – a Default és a What The Eyeballs Did – és Yorke ígérete alapján rendes számok lesznek az albumon, nem csak 10 perces kísérletezgetős elszállások. A Radiohead frontembere szerint remekül összecsiszolódtak a The Eraser játszása közben, és jövőre mindenképpen koncertezésbe szeretnének kezdeni. Készül az új Dot Hacker album
Jonathan Hischke, a Dot Hacker basszusgitárosa jelentette be, hogy az együttes hamarosan elkezd dolgozni a második nagylemezén. Klinghofferék nem sokat vártak, hiszen az első lemez idén májusban jelent meg, bár most lesz is ideje a projekttel foglalkoznia Joshnak, hiszen a Chili tavasszal, a turné befejezése után jövőre pihenőre megy.
Véget ért a 2012-es turné
November 26-án véget ért az idei Red Hot Chili Peppers turné, már csak egy különleges szilveszteri koncert lesz idén Las Vegasban, jövőre egy rövid ausztrál/dél-afrikai/közép-amerikai turné, és pihenőre megy az együttes, hogy felkészülhessen az új lemez munkálataira.
